Workout Schedule Transition to Idlewild Pool, Likely June 7, 2025
Yes, Virginia, There Is an Idlewild Pool that will be set up in long course meters this Saturday: The Importance of Fluid Thinking.
Our first of the season workout at Idlewild Pool will be this Saturday, June 7, 2025, starting at our usual Saturday 6:00 am time. Coach Pete will be introducing us to the wider than Moana Pool LCM lanes.
No workout is scheduled for Saturday, August 9, 2025, due to SNM hosting the Donner Lake Swim. Volunteers needed.
Summer Party on Saturday June 21, 2025, starting at 5:30 pm at Rick & Cathy Trachok’s Barn/yard. Thank you for hosting!
SNM will be celebrating the summer season with a potluck get togeather! During this social event please bring a food item(s).

City of Reno RecConnect 40% discount for SNM Swimmers
The City of Reno is offering SNM swimmers a 40% discount through RecConnect. Please see the attached flyer.
To qualify, you must be a current SNM dues paying member in one of the following categories:
1. Annual dues paying member of SNM
2. 2 quarters per 12-months dues paying member of SNM
3. 6-months per 12-months dues paying member of SNM
SNM management will periodically provide City personnel with a list of qualifying members (first such list should be provided by early in the week of June 9). Then all you need to do is stop by one of the listed City locations and tell them you are a qualifying member of SNM (you may want to have your USMS card handy just in case). They will check to see if your name is on their current SNM list. If you are not on the list, but believe you should be, please contact Jim Lawrie, Treasurer (first choice) or John Pettibone. For example, there may be some new or existing members that have not met these criteria in the past, but plan to do so in the future. This can be discussed with SNM management.

Donner Lake Swim 2025
The 44th Annual Donner Lake Swim will be on Saturday, August 9, 2025. See webpage at https://www.donnerlakeswim.org/
Registration of 475 swimmers was completed within ~9 minutes on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, by 9:09 am Pacific Time. That is likely a record registration window. The DLS committee will be exploring alternative registration options at its future meetings.
Volunteers for race day are needed including motorized boats, kayakers, and assistance at the start/finish. Please contact our Race Director, Laura Harsh at donnerlakeswim@gmail.com
Any Interest in Open Water Swimming?
Please contact Scott Evans at 775-240-4864 (call or text) if you are interested in forming an independent group to swim in open water.
Any such open water group swims, if they do not strictly adhere to USMS Guide to Running an Open Water Swim Practice will be uninsured. It is highly recommended that any participants read this USMS Guide.
In any event, Sierra Nevada Masters Swimming (SNM) is not organizing, overseeing, promoting, or sanctioning any such open water swim practices. Accordingly, participants acknowledge that they are aware SNM is not involved and further they are aware of all the risks inherent in open water swimming including possible permanent disability or death and agree to assume all those risks should they participate.
