Workout Schedule Transition to Idlewild Pool, Likely June 7, 2025
Due to the City of Reno current maintenance program, Idlewild Pool will not be ready to open until June 7, 2025. There’s an outside chance (unlikely) that the pool will open as early as Monday June 2.
SNM will be swimming long course orientation at Idlewild Pool (6-days/week, usual times) starting near that date, which will continue in LCM until Sunday, August 10, 2025. Afterwards. short course orientation may be in use until Idlewild is scheduled to close on Labor Day, September 1, 2025.
Outdoor swimming access may be subject to weather conditions, including actual or forecast air quality conditions. The City of Reno will attempt to alert us in advance of any such circumstances.
No workout is scheduled for Saturday, August 9, 2025, due to SNM hosting the Donner Lake Swim. Volunteers needed.

Silver State Masters Long Course Meet
The Silver State Masters Long Course Meet set for June 29, 2025, has been cancelled due to a perceived conflict with a recently scheduled meet in Davis, CA. As a result, our meet organizers believed we were unlikely to attract enough swimmers from the Sacramento region, as we have done in the past, to make our meet participation large enough to provide sufficient competition. We look forward to having this meet again in summer 2026 without a schedule conflict.

Donner Lake Swim 2025
The 44th Annual Donner Lake Swim will be on Saturday, August 9, 2025. See webpage at https://www.donnerlakeswim.org/
Registration is currently planned to open on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 9:00 am Pacific Time. Registration slots can have a tendency to fill up fast (sometimes less than 15 minutes).
Volunteers for race day are needed including motorized boats, kayakers, and assistance at the start/finish. Please contact our Race Director, Laura Harsh at donnerlakeswim@gmail.com
Any Interest in Open Water Swimming?
Please contact Scott Evans at 775-240-4864 (call or text) if you are interested in forming an independent group to swim in open water.
Any such open water group swims, if they do not strictly adhere to USMS Guide to Running an Open Water Swim Practice will be uninsured. It is highly recommended that any participants read this USMS Guide.
In any event, Sierra Nevada Masters Swimming (SNM) is not organizing, overseeing, promoting, or sanctioning any such open water swim practices. Accordingly, participants acknowledge that they are aware SNM is not involved and further they are aware of all the risks inherent in open water swimming including possible permanent disability or death and agree to assume all those risks should they participate.
